Skjoldenæsholm tram museum

The Skjoldenæsholm Tramway Museum has two running museum lines on which trams from Copenhagen, Aarhus and Odense run, as well as trams from a few foreign cities.

For example, a tram from Melbourne, Australia, can be seen in operation. This carriage was given as a gift from Australia to the Crown Prince and Crown Princess on the occasion of Prince Christian’s birth and christening, and the Royal Family has deposited the carriage at the Tramway Museum. The collection consists of more than 100 carriages, around half of which have been restored and are in operation or on display.

Along the museum’s forest route, tables and benches have been set up at the stops, and you can enjoy a picnic lunch at the forest end stations. Beverages can be purchased at the museum. You can also rent a tram. Maybe a good idea for a birthday party? The museum is located at Skjoldenæsvej 95 in 4174 Jystrup in central Zealand – between Roskilde and Ringsted, about 65 km south-west of Copenhagen.

In 2013, the Tramway Museum celebrated the 150th anniversary of a Copenhagen tram. Here you can watch a film about the horse-drawn tram that takes you on a tour of the beautiful landscape and Skjoldenæsholm’s magnificent main building.
