Ringsted Experience Trail

The Ringsted Experience Trail offers unique nature experiences that runs through most of Ringsted. It is a hiking, running, cycling and activity trail of just over 25 kilometres which runs through a wide variety of landscapes with almost 100 experiences, activities and sights along the way. Along the trail there are shelters, fire pits, information boards, exercise equipment and much more, providing opportunities for exercise, learning, immersion and play. There are tables/benches and viewpoints at key locations as well.

The Ringsted Experience Trail begins at Høm Mill and follows the Ringsted Brook northwards to Haraldsted Lake. Here, it crosses the Vestdæmningen and runs eastwards along the northern shore of Haraldsted Lake all the way to the Roskildevej road. The route then goes via Roskildevej north and at the Værkedvadsvej road, it turns right down towards Vigersted. The trail goes south of Vigersted and into Humleore Forest, where the route stops at the border with Køge Municipality.

Among other things, you can see Northern Europe’s largest bird of prey, the white-tailed eagle, which breeds in a secret location in Humleore Forest and can be seen feeding, especially in Haraldsted Lake. Other birds of prey include the marsh harrier, red kite and osprey. Then there is Denmark’s most beautiful bird, the common kingfisher, and the goldcrest, which is Denmark’s smallest bird.
